Provider Reflections - Taking Parts Moving & Grooving

Read about what Taking Part have been working on in their sessions so far this year.

So far in 2023, we have welcomed new families to our creative child led sessions as well as being privileged to witness the children who have attended long term, develop their personal skills and goals.

We have explored the surrounding natural area, collecting ‘natural treasures’ to create magic wands and land art pieces.

We have experimented with fun and challenging circus skills, during an extra special return visit, session led by Circus performer the wonderful and talented….Nula Hula!!

The children have grown in confidence and trust in one another, so much so they regularly lead, collaborate and perform various plays, songs and story games as well as more traditional games like cricket.

Our loose and flexible session structure gives our children the opportunity to have ownership over the play activities as well as many opportunities for solo and group play. Play, in the true sense of the world.

There was an honest box area, selling plants in the foyer of the community centre, one week and the children, self directed, designed signage, cash and more to create a plant shop, the staff played the customers. The role play game, was whimsical, improved maths skills and was very silly.

“This is actually fun” and this “This is my favourite club” are words children have shared unprompted with staff.

We provide various methods of communication for our families to help us collect information to be able to provide person centred environments, communication and sessions.
